Project Description: VTT was contracted by MSI to carry out the Identifying Barriers to Reading in Pakistan project funded by USAID. The objective of the assignment was to better understand ways to strengthen the culture of reading in Pakistan. Through IBRP, USAID/Pakistan intended to identify barriers to reading beyond the walls of the primary school. The IBRP study was also aimed at identifying potential areas that could be strengthened to develop reading skills and habits in the public across different regions, gender, age and ethnicities. VTT scientifically explored and assessed barriers to the culture of reading in Pakistan. The study used a mixed-method design including focus group discussions (FGDs) and a short survey of each FGD participant.
