Project Description: VTT had been asked to conduct evaluation of the USAID funded “Merit and Needs Based Scholarship Program,” by MSI/USAID. The objective of the program was to help academically qualified and financially needy Pakistani students from under privileged/remote areas of the country to pursue university studies at top Pakistani institutions in the fields of agriculture, business, engineering and social sciences. Purpose of the exercise was to evaluate the impact of scholarships offered, on academic career and fulfillment of scholarships’ objectives. Scholarships were offered for graduate and undergraduate programs to needy students in 11 universities across Pakistan. The Program had a 25% quota reserved for women students hailing from remote/ vulnerable areas of the country. VTT held several stakeholder’s meetings with MSI to understand the evaluation assignment objectives, executed the project and provided cleansed data sets to MSI. The project has been successfully concluded.
