Project Description:  SRP aimed to contribute to the Government of Sindh’s goals to improve reading skills among early grade students in seven districts in Northern Sindh (Dadu, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Kamber-Shadadkot, and Sukkur) and five selected towns of Karachi (Bin Qasim, Gaddap, Kemari, Liyari, and Orangi) through improved teacher competencies for effective early grade reading instruction; improved early grade reading assessment practice; improved student access to supplementary reading materials; and enhanced participation of parents and caregivers in support of early grade literacy for out of school children.

VTT was responsible to support the Sindh Reading Program (SRP) with the implementation and monitoring of school-based (“on-the-job”) teacher trainings through identifying, hiring, supervising, and compensating Teaching and Learning Associates (TLAs). The TLAs assisted during rollout of SRP’s teacher training activity between August 2015 and May 2016 in SRP’s target districts and towns in Sindh province.
